Porter’s Perfection Vodka
We make our vodka by carefully combining the juice of the heritage apple, Porter’s Perfection, with British wheat grain spirit, adding botanicals, then distilling, and adding local spring water. This results in a really smooth, clean vodka, with a delicate, subtle taste of apples when served neat over ice.
It makes an incredibly refreshing vodka and tonic when mixed with a Mediterranean tonic, which allows the apple taste to shine through. Serve with a slice of fresh ginger and apple.
We use Porter’s Perfection apples, a rare local heritage variety first identified in 1905, partly because their distinct taste beautifully complements the vodka, and partly because we feel it is important to find modern uses for the rarer heritage varieties. Using them in this way helps ensure their survival in the future – we have planted 38 and have just grafted another 24 trees in our orchard.
The Dorset Espresso Martini
Made with two of the best local ingredients, Conker Spirit’s Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur and Porter’s Perfection Vodka, and filmed at the beautiful West Bay on the Dorset coast, only a few miles from where we make our Vodka.
It’s the perfect base for longer drinks and classic cocktails with a twist like a Jurassic Jackass (our take on a Moscow Mule) or a Bloody Perfect Mary using Dorset Naga chillies.
Porter’s Perfection Vodka was developed with the assistance of Lloyd Brown, head mixologist at the Venner Bar in Bridport (3 times runner up in the Observer Food Monthly Best Bar), where it was launched in May with a range of Lloyd’s fantastic cocktails.
Dorset has a long tradition of growing apples, and we are really proud to play our part in preserving the local orchards and the traditional varieties that grow in the West Country. Porter’s Perfection Vodka showcases the unique taste of a unique apple and we have used it to create an amazingly soft, smooth and subtle Dorset Vodka.
Porter’s Perfection Vodka is increasingly widely available in independent wine shops, delicatessens, food halls and farm shops, as well as bars, pubs and restaurants throughout the Southwest. It is available to the on and off trade from Nectar Imports and LWC, and to the retail trade from Diverse Fine Foods.
We are really pleased to announce that Difford’s Guide has given Porter’s Perfection Vodka 4 and a half stars! Read their tasting notes and review here.
Vinspire Review March 2017
‘I’m not usually a neat vodka drinker, but this could change my mind. On the nose it’s a bit fruity and peppery, but overall it’s just very clean. Taste wise it’s crisp, with a very faint hint of apple freshness, and finishing with a mild pepperiness. ‘ Read the full review here.
