Friends of Liberty Fields

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Friends of Liberty Fields.

We set up Liberty Fields in 2010 with the planting of 10 acres of organic cider orchards at Liberty Farm in Halstock, West Dorset. Having renovated two redundant farm buildings at the top of our main orchard we then launched our artisan food company making unique apple products using fruit from our own and other local orchards. The orchards are now well-established with a range of traditional local varieties (e.g. Somerset Redstreak, Yarlington Mill, Fillbarrel) which combine to produce the unique and complex flavours of our apple products (Apple Balsamic Vinegar and Apple Aperitif).

Within our orchards we have included a collection of rare Dorset cider apple trees which were planted in order both to safeguard these varieties for the future and to provide budwood for the propagation of new trees for individuals and community orchards. We have a close relationship with Lufton College in Yeovil and provide weekly work experience and volunteering opportunities in the orchards for young adults with learning disabilities.

If you are passionate about orchards and would like to be a part of our project why not join the ‘Friends of Liberty Fields’? You can help to support local organic food production, sustainable countryside management and the restoration of orchards.

Hi, I have a mixed orchard with some old, some newer and some self-planted apple trees but am looking to add some traditional dorset varieties and was told you may be able to help. In particular I am hoping to find a Buttery Door and Golden Ball apple trees. Do you know how it might be possible to get hold of these types of tree?

    Dear Sir or Madam
We are looking for organic-certified apple syrup. I assume you are a manufacturer. Please let us know what qualities you can offer. Quantity for the beginning would be around 10 tons, packed in ard. 200 kg drums.
Looking forward to hearing from you, I remain
    With best regards

Hi, Many thanks for your interest. I’m afraid that we’re not certified as organic and also would not be able to supply that quantity of syrup at this time. All best wishes, Vicky Morland
